ChatLingo Privacy Policy

ChatLingo ("we", "us") provides an AI-powered conversational language learning application. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: username, email address, and a password hash (passwords are never stored in plain text).
• Audio recordings: when you use voice input, your microphone captures your speech, which is transmitted to a third-party speech recognition service (or our configured LLM provider) to produce text for the conversation. Recordings are processed on the fly and are not stored as audio files.
• Conversation content: your chat messages and the AI-generated replies are stored to power conversation history and learning analytics.
• Learning data: vocabulary items, progress, statistics, CEFR assessment results, and achievements.
• Email verification data: your email is used to send a one-time verification code when you register (via our email delivery provider).

2. How we use information

• Provide conversation practice, corrections, translations and feedback
• Generate learning plans, progress statistics and vocabulary reviews
• Secure your account and prevent abuse (rate limits, IP bans, spam filters)
• Send service emails required for registration and deactivation

3. AI-generated content

Your messages are sent to third-party AI model providers (e.g. the model provider configured in our infrastructure) to generate conversational replies, corrections, and evaluations. AI responses are machine-generated and may not always be accurate. We request these providers not to retain your data beyond what is necessary to serve the request.

4. Third-party services

• AI model / speech processing provider(s) (chat, corrections, speech-to-text)
• Email delivery provider (verification codes)
• Cloud hosting provider (data storage)

5. Data storage & retention

Data is stored on our cloud servers (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis caches). Conversation history and learning data are kept so that the app can provide history and analytics. When you unsubscribe (deactivate) your account (see §7), your account immediately stops working; personal data is retained only to the extent required by law or for a reasonable backup window, and deletion may be requested at any time as described below.

6. Children

ChatLingo is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Unsubscribe / delete your account

You can unsubscribe your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete account (注销). This immediately deactivates your account: you will be signed out and your credentials will no longer work. To request complete erasure of your personal data, email support@geniux.top (we process such requests within 14 days).

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may access, correct, export, or delete your data, and withdraw consent by unsubscribing. Contact us at support@geniux.top.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; material changes will be announced in the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
